Is Mozilla Firefox Losing Market Share in the Philippines?

I read a couple of posts about Mozilla Firefox‘s declining market share in the Philippines (One from Abe Oldandres and one from Ely Apao).  Abe cites data from StatCounter that last Matrch, Mozilla Firefox lost its status as the Number One browser in the Philippines. The data from StatCounter suggests that Google Chrome’s gain in the Philippines is a loss for both Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

I’m not afraid to admit that there are probably a good number of people who have moved over to Chrome from Firefox. There are pretty consistent indicators that Chrome is steadily climbing in the Philippines. And from what I’ve actually observed, there is an big increase on adoption of Google Chrome, but there are also lots of switchers to Mozilla Firefox from Microsoft Internet Explorer.

So the BIG question now is this: What will Mozilla do about it here in the Philippines?

The best person to answer that question is Gen Kanai, Mozilla’s Director of Asia Business Development.

Gen will be here on April 16, 2011 at the Mozilla Firefox 4 Launch in Manila event. Gen will be more than happy to answer the tough questions about Mozilla Firefox’s current situation here in the Philippines and its future directions in Asia.

Sign up for the event at the event’s registration page to get a change to ask your own questions and even learn a lot from the speakers from Mozilla, Globe Labs, and Yahoo! Philippines. 🙂

That may be true, but the gap is much, much smaller now, especially in benchmarks.
