The Mozilla Philippines Community is proud to announce our support for this years’ WebGeek DevCup!
WebGeek Philippines presents the third edition of its Hackathon, DevCup, happening this August 16-17, 2014. For the past two years, DevCup has been constantly garnering overwhelming results, in terms of participants and in terms of apps developed. With 62 teams battling out to create the best apps and with no less than 48 successful apps at the end of the 2-day hackathon. DevCup 2014 will be held at Meralco Multi-Purpose Hall, Meralco Compound, Ortigas; same venue as the last 2 DevCup. To further reinforce our commitment in towards showcasing the Filipino talent in Information Technology, we continuously change our challenges to reflect the current trends. With this we are able to tell the world that we can adapt to new technologies as it happen and be able to use those in developing cutting edge apps. Interested parties may register as individual or up to a maximum of three as a team. Build a web app, mobile app or any software platform and you can also win awesome prizes.
We believe that Mozilla Firefox can help you build the next big thing, just as we believe that the web is an awesome place that promotes opportunity. The Firefox Browser offers a lot of useful developer tools that you can use during the hackathon and to name a few:
- WebIDE – WebIDE helps you create, edit, and test a new Web application right from your browser
- Firefox OS App Manager – Firefox OS App Manager is a new developer tool available in Firefox 26 that greatly improves the process of building and debugging Firefox OS apps
- Improved Toolbox, Inspector and scratchpad
Our developer volunteers will also be there to help you get started with the built-in Firefox Browser dev tools, and if you are also interested in shipping your app to Firefox OS, we will be having a couple of test devices with us to help you expand your market reach and ship it to Firefox Marketplace in no time.
