MozillaPH to Host Data Privacy Act IRR Talk

Four years ago, in August 2012, Republic Act 10173 (popularly known as the Data Privacy Act of 2012) was enacted. Just a few weeks ago, in August 2016, the Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 10173 was published.

An act protecting individual personal information in information and communications systems in the government and the private sector, creating for this purpose a National Privacy Commission and for other purposes.

Part of Mozilla’s Manifesto (the principles that guide our mission to promote openness, innovation & opportunity on the Web) states: “Individuals’ security and privacy on the Internet are fundamental and must not be treated as optional.

As part of our commitment to you and your privacy, we invited resource speakers from the National Privacy Commission to give an overview about the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 10173, known as the “Data Privacy Act of 2012.” This is Mozilla Philippines Community’s very first event related to the Philippine Law on Data Privacy.

We will have Atty. Ivy Patdu, Deputy Commissioner – National Privacy Commision and Atty. Francis Euston Acero, Complaints and Investigation Division Chief – National Privacy Commission as resource speakers for this talk.

The event will happen on Friday, 07 October 2016 6:30PM at the Mozilla Community Space Manila along Chino Roces Ave., Makati City.

Due to venue space constraints, we shall be implementing a NO EVENTBRITE TICKET, NO ENTRY policy for this event. Please bring a valid ID for identification purposes. Thank you for your support and understanding!
