MozillaPH Regional Coordinators

Mozilla’s mission is to promote openness, innovation and opportunity on the Web. Being one of the Mozilla Reps in a country with more than 7,000 islands, it is rather hard to spread our mission to each and every Filipino when time is not on your side (us, being Mozilla volunteers and there are just 9 Mozilla Reps in the Philippines now). We need to expand our reach.

During one of the brainstorming sessions the leadership of MozillaPH had weeks ago came a proposal of creating a Regional Coordinator to key places in the Philippines; particularly, cities which we do not visit frequently.

Based on the proposal, Regional Coordinators are passionate Vouched Mozillians, at least 18 years of age and has been a Mozilla Contributor (FSA, Casual or Core) for at least six months. They act as point persons in their region/province, where no Mozilla Rep is currently based. Regional Coordinators are willing to be trained by the MozillaPH Leadership to gain more knowledge about the Mozilla organization, its mission, its products and its community. They are also willing to communicate to as many people as possible and keen to inspire people in contributing to Mozilla and the local community.

Duly appointed Mozilla Philippines Community Regional Coordinators are asked of the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Represent the Mozilla Philippines Community (MozillaPH) in their province or region.
  • Promote the Mozilla Project and Mission.
  • Build on and support existing/future local community efforts and programs.
  • Inspire, recruit and support new contributors in their locale.
  • Document clearly all of their activities.
  • Other tasks that MozillaPH may assign to them overtime.

They are also required to sign an agreement stating the following:

  • They are authorized to speak about the Mozilla Philippines Community (MozillaPH) in their respective area (region) of assignment.
  • They can use their role as MozillaPH Regional Coordinator only to benefit the MozillaPH Community and the Mozilla Project, in general.
  • They are not authorized to bind MozillaPH in any way, or sign any agreements on behalf of MozillaPH.
  • They are not an employee or agent of Mozilla nor of MozillaPH and cannot represent themselves as such.
  • They cannot use their role as MozillaPH Regional Coordinators to raise money for themselves. They also cannot use their role as MozillaPH Regional Coordinators to raise money for any group or organization, unless pre-approved by the MozillaPH Leadership.
  • They absolutely may not bribe any government official on MozillaPH’s behalf or in their capacity as MozillaPH Regional Coordinators.
  • They cannot engage in any activities that violate the laws of the Philippines, Mozilla’s & MozillaPH’s policies, or the rights of any group or individual.
  • They will behave in a professional and respectable manner when acting as MozillaPH Regional Coordinators.
  • They may not use the Mozilla brand or trademarks without the prior consent of the MozillaPH Leadership (except in materials provided to them by Mozilla), and any such permitted use is limited to fulfilling their duties and responsibilities under this Agreement.
  • Their duties and responsibilities under the Agreement are not transferable to any other person or group.
  • MozillaPH has the right to terminate the signed Agreement and their involvement as MozillaPH Regional Coordinators at any time for any reason.
