Stepping Down as the Community Manager of Mozilla Philippines

September 22nd, 2011 by Regnard Raquedan with 1 Comment »

Hello everyone!

After two years as Community Manager for Mozilla Philippines, I’m stepping down. I’ve really enjoyed leading the community but I’ve made this decision based on a huge personal move.

Eusebio “Jun” Barrun will take the reins in leading the community and I couldn’t have wished for a better person to be the next Community Manager– Jun has been a consistent and solid contributor since the community started and his work for the Student Reps initiative had broken ground on establishing Mozilla’s presence in various schools.

It was a pleasure working with everyone and all I really can say are words of gratitude to the folks who’ve supported me and our community. Special mention to Mozilla’s Gen Kanai, Mary Colvig, and William Quiviger for helping the Mozilla Philippines community immensely.

Again, thanks to everyone! :D

Meet-up with Mozilla’s William Quiviger

Good news! Mozilla’s William Quiviger will be in Manila and there’s going to be a meet-up with him on August 26, 2011 (Friday) at 6:30pm. The venue is still TBA, but it’s most likely going to be in the Makati area. The venue will be at the UP-Ayala TechnoHub in Quezon City.

William is part of Mozilla’s Contributor Engagement Team and he is one of the main proponents of the Mozilla Reps program. He has expressed his excitement over meeting the Mozillians based here in the Philippines.

The event will be an informal get-together (so don’t be shy!), but expect a lively discussion ranging from Mozilla to William’s Filipino roots.

If you’d like to join the meet-up and get together with fellow Mozilla Firefox fans and volunteers, feel free to email me at regnard@raquedan.com.

Mozilla Firefox 4 Event in Bukidnon

May 10th, 2011 by Regnard Raquedan with 3 Comments »

A new local Mozilla community in Bukidnon had their Mozilla Firefox 4 event last month! :D

Organized by the folks at Bukidnon Online, the gathering was a great way to jumpstart the local activities and doubled as a blogger meetup. According to the organizers:

All of the participants also had a grand time surfing the web using the latest version of Firefox and they all pledged to share the good news about Firefox 4 with their family and friends

After the events in Cebu and Cagayan De Oro, I’m glad that the presence of the Mozilla Philippines Community is spreading south.
