With the aim of growing the Mozilla Philippines Community (MozillaPH) beyond the reach of existing Mozilla Reps in the country, we started to appoint the very first Regional Coordinator last 2015. Frederick Villaluna, the Philippines’ very first Regional Coordinator has since then evolved to become a full pledged Mozilla Rep.
It is with joy and pride that we announce the appointment of Romar Mayer Micabalo as the very first MozillaPH Regional Coordinator for Northern Mindanao effective today.
A long time Pinoy Mozillian, Romar is currently the Data, Infrastructure, Telecoms, and Security (DITS) Team Lead at Innovuze Solutions, Inc. in Cagayan De Oro (CDO) and sits in the board of ITG-X, a CDO-based technology advocacy group.
Romar is an active contributor to the Tagalog Firefox Project as a localizer and locals are accustomed to him speaking at various tech events and conferences. He had recently organized a local Rust Programming Language group aptly called RUSTLE (Rust Learning Explorers).
With this appointment, Romar joins the rank of Lenuel Betita from Negros Occidental as a MozillaPH Regional Coordinator. Romar will oversee the growth of the Mozilla Philippines Community in the region of Cagayan De Oro, Ozamis, Iligan, Bukidnon, and Gingoog.
