MozTour & Firefox OS Workshop APC

For the very first time, Team MozillaPH visited the Asia Pacific College (APC) in Makati City to conduct a MozTour (in the morning) and a Firefox OS Workshop (in the afternoon).

Asia Pacific College (APC) was established in 1991 as a non-profit joint venture between IBM Philippines and the SM Foundation. It was envisioned as a learning institution that produces graduates that fulfill information technology industry demands.*

Quite a number of the community’s friends in the industry are the product of APC.

The MozTour was well attended by students and faculty members of the college. Team MozilalPH discussed ways on how both students and faculty members can be part of the community (by contributing to the Mozilla Project). Part of the MozTour were introductions to the Mozilla Philippines Community, Firefox Student Ambassadors Program, Webmaking, Women and Mozilla (WoMoz) initiative and How to Develop Apps for Firefox OS.

In the afternoon, a Firefox OS Workshop was conducted to around twenty (20) APC students in one of the college’s computer laboratory. Participants were taught on the basics in developing apps for Mozilla’s Mobile Operating System and how easy for their apps to be deployed on actual devices and to the Firefox Marketplace.

We are looking forward to the establishment of a Firefox Club by FSA’s at this campus very soon.
