MozTour URSAC

February seems like a month of many firsts for the MozillaPH Community as last Feb. 28 marked our first time to hold an event in Antipolo City, specifically at the University of Rizal System- Antipolo Campus. This event is also simultaneous with an event in Manila, so our team had to split again. With me in this team were Firefox Student Ambassadors Kristian and SM. Kristian and I were the speakers while SM handled the logistics needed for the event.

It was attended by around 120 students who are mostly freshmen and sophomores. The crowd was very lively and active, with much preparation from the Guild of IT Students.

After being introduced by the emcees, I started my talk with an introduction to Mozilla, Mozilla in the Philippines and how they can contribute to Mozilla.

To ensure that they are still alert during that time in the afternoon, we held quizzes and gave out Mozilla swags as prizes.

After my talk about introducing Mozilla, I moved on to discuss the Webmaker project, where introduced the Webmaker tools and did a live demo of it.

After my talks, FSA Kristian Lugtu discussed Firefox OS and the developer tools provided by Mozilla.

The student organizers also prepared a dance and song number for the audience!

Thank you to URSAC for inviting us to your campus and holding a MozTour! The MozPH Community was the first tech community to hold an event at their campus. Thanks FSA Elaine Guillermo for setting this up for us! We look forward to hold another event here soon.
