MozillaPH Community Volunteers Meetup in Cagayan de Oro

Mozilla Philippines Community volunteers for Northern Mindanao recently held its second community meetup last September 14, 2019.

Northern Mindanao volunteers received fresh updates on the various initiatives and activities from the Mozilla PH Community core team in Metro Manila. Among the most notable updates, volunteers learned that the recent localization contributions in Tagalog were already merged into Firefox Nightly and that localization efforts for the Tagalog translations for Firefox achieved 100% completion.

Aside from the new updates and project releases from Mozilla, volunteers were able to discuss and plan out various activities that will allow the local pool of volunteers to step beyond localization and begin contributing to product testing, user support, among others. Volunteers will be designing and creating activities that will encourage more involvement and participation from educators, teachers, and professors. They are also planning to promote more awareness for Mozilla projects, especially those that are geared towards privacy and security on the internet.

Other activities like mini-conferences, hackathons, and bootcamps are also in the works, with special focus on various Mozilla-built or Mozilla-supported technologies like A-Frame, WebVR/WebXR, Rust, Firefox, and others.

The meetup was headed by Romar Mayer Micabalo, MozillaPH Regional Coordinator for Northern Mindanao, and was graciously hosted for the second time around by Innovuze Solutions, Inc.
