Mozillians and Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda)

Yes, today is Firefox’s 9th birthday. But instead of celebrating, Team Mozilla Philippines continued with the scheduled meeting of its core members and leaders to discuss community updates after the Mozilla Summit 2013 (Santa Clara, California, USA) and Mozilla Festival 2013 (London, England), a day after Typhoon Haiyan (locally known as Typhoon Yolanda) — the strongest typhoon in recorded history according to CNN — made landfall on several provinces at the Visayas region.

Team Mozilla Philippines is grateful to people at Mozilla for showing their genuine concern to Filipinos …

UPDATE [as of 21 Nov 2013 2009H]
We just confirmed a report saying that Joan Advincula is alive and safe together with her family in Tolosa, Leyte. Information came from his cousin, Nick Advincula who just came back from Leyte today. We thank everyone who prayed for the safety of our fellow Mozillian, Joan!

As of this writing, we are still looking for the whereabouts of our fellow Mozillian and Mozilla Rep (ReMo) Joan Advincula. Joan is from the coastal town of Tolosa, Leyte where Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) made landfall yesterday. Communication lines and electricity is still out of service there. Any information about Joan and her family will greatly be appreciated (please update this page at Person Finder).

  1. Thank you Mozilllians! I hope Joan will be contacted very soon. My prayers goes to her and her family and the rest of the people affected by this catastrophic typhoon.
