MozTour Negros Oriental State University (NORSU)

For the very first time, Team Mozilla Philippines Community lands in Dumaguete City to conduct a MozTour in one of the mostly-populated campuses in the Visayas Region: NORSU (Negros Oriental State University).

Negros Oriental State University is the only state university in Negros Oriental, Negros Island Region, Philippines, with 7 major satellite campuses. NORSU is the main campus with most academic programs and student organizations. Formerly Central Visayas Polytechnic College, it was converted into a state university for students from Visayas and Mindanao. The main campus is on Kagawasan Ave., Dumaguete City, beside the provincial capitol building of Negros Oriental. — from Wikipedia.org

The MozillaPH delegation for this MozTour is composed of Mozilla Reps Robert “Bob” Reyes and Kemuel Joseph Domanog (from Luzon), and MozillaPH Regional Coordinator Frederick Villaluna (from Bacolod City). The event was held at the NORSU Gymnasium with almost 500 students in attendance.

Bob started the program by giving an overview about the Mozilla Project and what are the different ways on how to contribute to Mozilla locally. Mozillian extraordinaire Frederick then gave a talk on how Mozilla is shaping the future of education with Webmaker and Developer Tools found built-in to Firefox. Mozilla Rep Kim gave the final talk in the event with an overview about the Firefox Student Ambassadors (FSA) Program. The program was concluded after a Q&A portion and (the most awesome part) a class photo per college section right up on stage.
