MozillaPH L10n Team Meeting (February 2020)

The February 2020 Monthly Meeting of the Mozilla Philippines (MozillaPH) Localization (L10n) Team happened at 2100H tonight (MNL time) via the MozillaPH Slack.

A total of seven (07) Pinoy Mozillians were present during the online meeting presided by Mozilla Philippines Community Localization (L10n) Lead, Robert “Bob” Reyes. We have two (02) new Mozillians attending the MozillaPH L10n Meeting for the first time: Ninoy Arnaldo and Kenrick Buduan.

L10n Updates

Bob apprised the team on updates from the Mozilla L10n team, including:

  • Firefox 74 is currently in Beta; due for release by 10 March 2020 (localization deadline was 25 February 2020).
  • Firefox 75, which is currently in Nightly, will move to Beta when Firefox 74 is released. Localization deadline is set to 24 March 2020.
  • New localizers were given a general overview of how the translation and localization process works, as well as tools used by the Mozilla community.
  • Fenix, the Mozilla Android browser, will be released by April 2020.

Priority Projects

Aside from the projects with on-going localization at Pontoon, Bob gave the team a heads up that Common Voice website localization should also be given priority, as this is required prior to the inclusion of Tagalog in the said project.

Other Matters

  • Bob reminded the meeting attendees to have their Mozilla Community Portal accounts ready. The portal website will be replacing the Mozillians.org phonebook directory website.
  • Starting March 2020, the Mozilla Philippines Community (MozillaPH) will be hosting a monthly meetup for Pinoy Mozillians. To attend the upcoming meetup, please RSVP here. The MozillaPH Community Meetups are open to both Mozillians and non-Mozillians (but RSVP is required).
